Education and Experience
Teddy Edgar is a professional Boston-based Tenor and Actor in the Greater Boston Area who was recently suggested by a Boston Critic to be “ready for prime-time!” Teddy believes singing is the extension of the voice and highly inspires vocal students to embrace their sound and individuality. While technique is taught to be the foundation of an artist, he teaches that what is most marketable for an aspiring professional is honing their gifted talents and finding the potential to grow into a more eclectic artist. Teddy is so honored to share his knowledge and love for the vocal arts with the Performing Arts Center of Metrowest, Christa McAuliffe Charter School, Fowler School (Maynard), and his private studio.
Teddy Edgar started his extensive training in Music Theatre and Vocal Performance at the elite arts school, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, located in Natick, MA. During his High School years, Teddy had created a platform for Boston Youth Performers at the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists (BACA) to encourage artistic individuality and promote undiscovered talent throughout the cabaret circuit. He utilized his weekends in the Youth Chorale at New England Conservatory under the direction of Jonathan Richter. He attended summers at Interlochen Center for the Arts, Schmidt Vocal Intensive, Music Theatre Summer Overtures at Baldwin Wallace, Open Jar Institute, and the Curtis Summerfest. Teddy‘s list of awards during his High School years include: First Place for Music Theatre (twice) and Second Place for NATS Vocal Competition, First Place for the Opera Division at The Peter Elvins Competition, and a Finalist for both The Hal Leonard Competition and The Classical Singer Competition. He continued his studies at Oklahoma City University for his Bachelor's Degree in Music as a double major in Music Theatre and Vocal Performance. During his undergraduate years, he received experience in teaching, pedagogy, assistant music directing under the tutelage of Broadway music director Rebekah Bruce Parker, composition, conducting, and professional choir singing. Teddy has just recently received his Masters of Music in Opera Performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee in May of 2023. During his 2-year Graduate Program, Teddy had portrayed many roles and had the great pleasure of working amongst highly esteemed professionals like Brett Hodgdon, David Gately, Christopher Larkin, Sahar Nouri, Nathan Troup, and many more.
