Teddy Edgar can be defined as the love child of Nathan Lane and Kristin Chenoweth. He never shies away from an opportunity to tell a joke or imitate a celebrity. He might even translate any song into an opera style for pure amusement. He is referred to by many as a singing clown and is bound to bring a smile to your face. He is everyone's best Judy and knows everything. Wait, I meant everyone knows he is the best at knowing everything about Judy Garland.

New England and NYC Local Hire. Strong Singer. Strong Mover.

Timeline of Teddy

Early Childhood

1997 - 2010

Teddy Edgar was born on Halloween of the year 1997, which originated his love for Disney Villains, Witches, and Dressing Up. He attended St Therese School in Succasunna, NJ, and had a growing interest in performing. In Kindergarten, he was given a prompt to write a loving note for visiting his desk for Parent's Night. Funny enough, Teddy instead scribbled on the page "Dear Mom and Dad, someday I will make it to Broadway!" It was not until his 4th Grade Spring Concert, which was Disney-themed, that he would sing his first song "When You Wish Upon A Star" in front of his whole school. After such a successful performance, he spent his time outside of school in Irish Step Dancing, Voice Lessons, and Boy Scouts (where he won an award for sharp-shooting). Teddy later moved up to Hopkinton, MA to be closer to family. The town slogan for Hopkinton is "It All Starts Here," because that is where the Boston Marathon starts. This town is also where Teddy's aspirations to perform had come to fruition. While Teddy might have been raised in an Italian household in Hopkinton, MA, he still takes major pride in his suburban New Jersey roots.

Middle School Years

2010 - 2012

After the move, Teddy was new to his town and wanted to make new friends. He decided to join the drama club after he heard that he could sing in a musical. Hallyann Gifford really encouraged him to pursue theatre and gave him opportunities to make his dreams realities. He scored his first major role in a Musical Theatre production, which was Fagin in Oliver (as pictured). He then sought acting and dance training at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts - Music Dance Drama. He also received voice lessons with Corinne Walker, who was his music director for West Side Story, and then later switched to Debra Parker, who gained his interest in attending Walnut School for the Arts. She encouraged him to also compete in regional vocal competitions and later won most of the categories for his respective age group.

Walnut Hill School for the Arts

2013 - 2016

After receiving a scholarship for the Theatre Department, Teddy enthusiastically attended Walnut Hill. After a wonderful semester of top-tier acting training under the direction of Joe Cabral, he decided to switch over to the Voice Department to gain more vocal training. Angela Gooch (pictured on the left), the Head of Voice at the time, opened his world to a career of being a crossover artist of music theatre and vocal performance while experiencing many roles in the operas "on the Hill." He had voice lessons with Matt Anderson, coached with Elaine Smith Purcell, and spent his weekends at New England Conservatory for their Preparatory Program. During his High School years, Teddy had also created a platform for Boston Youth Performers at the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists (BACA) to encourage artistic individuality and promote undiscovered talent throughout the cabaret circuit of the Greater Boston Area.

Oklahoma City University

2016 - 2020

Teddy continued his studies at Oklahoma City University for his Bachelor's Degree in Music with a double major in Music Theatre and Vocal Performance. His voice teacher was Jeff Picón and also coached with Jan McDaniel. During his undergraduate years, he received experience in Teaching, Pedagogy, Voice-Over Work, Assistant Music Directing (with Rebekah Bruce Parker who is a Music Director for Broadway and most National Tours), Composition, and Conducting. He also took part in a vast amount of performance opportunities in Recitals, Professional Choir Singing (like performances at The Oklahoma City Convention Center such as Britten’s War Requiem), and portrayed great roles like Sir in Side Show (as pictured).

Covid-19

2020

While his college years at OCU were cut short due to the pandemic, Teddy used this time to meditate, organize his music, and audition for Graduate School programs for a Master's in Opera. Nevertheless, he finished his degree online, got vaccinated so he could find theatre work, and helped his family with handling The Pandemic. He also attended Growing Tree Studio and Broadway Artists Alliance to gain training from elite Broadway professionals.

Boston Conservatory at Berklee

2021 - 2023

After much consideration, Teddy decided to attend graduate school while theaters were closed due to COVID-19. He recently received his Masters of Music in Opera Performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee in May of 2023. He studied voice with an award-winning teacher who is also the Chair of Voice at New England Conservatory, Bradley Williams. During his 2-year Graduate Program with elite training, Teddy portrayed many roles, such as: Peter Grimes (Peter Grimes by Benjamin Britten), Sam Polk (Susannah by Carlisle Floyd), Don Basilio (Le Nozze di Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Duke Cacatois (The Island of Tulipatan by Jacques Offenbach), Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Mr. Upfold (Albert Herring by Benjamin Britten) and Young Aristocrat (La Clemenza di Tito by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart). Teddy had the great pleasure of working amongst highly esteemed professionals like Brett Hodgdon, David Gately, Christopher Larkin, Sahar Nouri, and many more.

Graduated and Beyond

May 2023 - Present

Right after Graduation, Teddy was immediately working on professional shows in the Boston Area. He returned to another summer at Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston to be in their Oklahoma and Disney's The Little Mermaid (where he had played Chef Louis). He then joined the cast of Sondheim's Assassins at Lyric Stage Boston as Giuseppe Zangara. Teddy is currently participating in Reagle's Christmastime to embrace the Holiday Season. Currently, he is teaching Voice at the Performing Arts Center of Metrowest to pass on the knowledge he has gained and also sings with the chorus at First Church in Boston. He is so blessed to be given the opportunities he has and is so excited for the future ahead.
